Joe Mantiply is headed to market.
The veteran left-handed reliever elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Toronto Blue Jays, according to his MLB.com transactions log.
Mantiply, 35, appeared in 25 games for the Blue Jays this season, registering a 3.00 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 27 innings.
However, he struggled down the stretch, including a pair of back-breaking appearances against the Detroit Tigers in September over which he coughed up six hits and three runs over 1.1 innings.
For his career, Mantiply holds a 4.37 ERA over 281 games also with the Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers.
