Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider said right-hander Jordan Romano's MRI came back clean, but the team's closer remains day-to-day with lower back soreness.
Romano sustained the injury during Tuesday's All-Star Game in Seattle.
After the Blue Jays defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-2 Saturday, Schneider explained to reporters why Romano was unavailable as reliever Yimi Garcia entered in the ninth and picked up the save.
"(Romano) had an MRI on his back, which came back clean. No concerns, just some mild left low back soreness," Schneider said. "(We’re) taking him day-by-day. We’ll see how he is tomorrow."
Romano threw just five pitches during the seventh inning of the All-Star Game before leaving with a lower back injury.
The 30-year-old from Markham, Ont., leads the American League with 26 saves and holds a 2.87 ERA and 48 strikeouts over 37.2 innings pitched this season.
