Toronto Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano has been added to the American League All-Star team as a replacement for Houston Astros starter Framber Valdez, MLB announced Sunday.
This is the second consecutive year Romano has been named to the team, though he didn't appear in last year's event at Dodgers' Stadium.
Romano has recorded 25 saves and a 2.95 ERA in 38 appearances during the 2023 season.
The Markham, Ont., native joins teammates Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Whit Merrifield and Bo Bichette on the American League team.
Starting pitcher Kevin Gausman was also named to the team, but he has opted not to attend the event in order to spend time with his family.
The 2023 All-Star Game will take place on July 11 from T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
