Daulton Varsho was scratched from the Toronto Blue Jays' lineup for Monday's spring training game to allow him to attend to a personal matter.
Varsho was scheduled to start in left field against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
With Varsho unavailable, Davis Schneider was slotted in his spot in left field and the batting order.
The 27-year-old is hitting .286/.400/.808 with a home run and nine RBI in 19 games this spring. In his first first season in Toronto after being acquired in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Varsho hit .220/.285/.389 with 20 home runs and 61 RBI in 158 games.
