The Toronto Blue Jays continue to round out their depth as spring training gets underway.
According to Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith, the Blue Jays are in agreement on a minor-league contract with left-handed reliever Amir Garrett.
Johnny Giunta of the Gate 14 Podcast was the first to report.
Garrett only threw 5.1 innings in the big leagues in 2024, posting a 5.06 ERA and 11 strikeouts for the Los Angeles Angels.
The 32-year-old spent most of the season with the Angels' triple-A affiliate. Over 33.2 innings with the Salt Lake Bees, he had a 5.08 ERA, 16 walks and 43 strikeouts.
Originally drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 2011, Garrett made his MLB debut in 2017 and has pitched in eight major-league seasons with the Reds, Angels and Kansas City Royals.
He has thrown in 328 career games with a 4.95 ERA.
Earlier this off-season, Garrett posted a video to X, showcasing an altered arm angle — dropping down to a low three-quarters release.
Garrett will join a group of relievers competing for a spot in Toronto's bullpen. Other southpaws in spring training with the Blue Jays include Brendon Little, Josh Walker, Richard Lovelady, Eric Lauer and Mason Fluharty.
