Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer was pulled from Thursday's game against the Detroit Tigers with discomfort in his right elbow in the eighth inning.
Interim manager John Schneider said that Springer "is feeling good," and will be re-evaluated on Friday.
Springer was seen grimacing after his at-bat in the eighth inning and would come off the field after completing some warmup throws in the outfield. He made a highlight-reel catch in the fourth inning, running across centre field while diving to grab the ball.
The 32-year-old has missed time this season while dealing with elbow soreness — described by Schneider as “inflammation” for at least several weeks. The ailment kept the outfielder from participating in the 2022 MLB All-Star Game.
“I'm going to have to fight through stuff all year,” Springer admitted back in July.
“It kind of is what it is. Still trying to fight through some stuff. But I'll be alright. Between the break and now, we’re just trying to buy an extra day to make sure that it's right and when it is, I’ll go back out.”
Springer is slashing .254 /331/.471 with 18 home runs and 47 RBI in 87 games.
