Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer is back in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the visiting Atlanta Braves, the team announced.
Springer had missed the Blue Jays' past two games with a viral infection he has been fighting since the team's trip to Boston last week.
The 33-year-old will return to his usual spot this season in right field and will bat leadoff against Braves starter Spencer Strider.
Springer has had a slower start to the 2023 season, batting just .209 with a .272 OBP.
In other Blue Jays injury news, pitcher Adam Cimber (rhomboid) threw 17 pitches over two-thirds of an inning in a rehab game at low-A Dunedin on Thursday.
While fellow right-hander Mitch White (shoulder) is scheduled to start for triple-A Buffalo Friday.
You can watch Springer make his return live on Sportsnet ONE and SN NOW at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
