Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer was awarded MLB's Electric Play of the Week Monday afternoon for his diving catch in the ninth inning of Friday's game against the Oakland Athletics.
With the score even at four, Oakland infielder Jace Peterson hit a line drive into shallow right field, sending Springer into a sprint before laying out to make a tumbling grab to secure the first out of the inning.
It is the third time this season a Blue Jay has taken home the honours with Kevin Kiermaier taking home Play of the Week twice.
Springer has now won the award three times since its introduction, and the Blue Jays as a team have earned Play of the Week nine times total — the most across MLB.
