The Toronto Blue Jays are promoting from within to fill a key vacant position.
Marc Tramuta, a special assistant in the team's amateur scouting department, will become the team's amateur scouting director, the team announced on Wednesday.
Previously, Tramuta spent six years as the New York Mets' scouting director.
Previous amateur scouting boss Shane Farrell left the Blue Jays last month to join the Detroit Tigers.
Tramuta, a native of Fredonia, N.Y., was an infielder at St. Bonaventure University in Olean, N.Y., before being picked in the 45th round of the MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1991.
He entered the scouting ranks with the Baltimore Orioles before joining the Blue Jays for his first stint with the organization in 2003.
