Blue Jays trade reliever Joel Payamps to Royals for cash considerations

The Toronto Blue Jays have sent right-handed reliever Joel Payamps to the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations.

Payamps was designated for assignment on July 16 to make room on the 40-man roster for Ryan Borucki. The 27-year-old made 22 relief appearances for the Blue Jays this season, posting a 2.70 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 30 innings.

Toronto claimed the right-hander off waivers from the Red Sox on March 6 after losing him to Boston on Feb. 10.
