For someone who was asked to step out of his comfort zone by the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, Trevor Richards sure looked at ease.
The 27-year-old reliever started for Toronto against the Twins on Saturday in place of Alek Manoah and struck out seven batters over the course of three innings, tossing 53 pitches.
Richards allowed just one hit to go with no runs and a single walk during his time on the mound.
With Manoah having been optioned to the Florida Complex League in order to work on his struggling game, Richards was tabbed for the start, but gave way to fellow reliever Tim Mayza to start the fourth inning.
