The Toronto Blue Jays revealed their City Connect "Night Mode" uniforms on Thursday in a video on social media narrated by actor Simu Liu.
"Embracing the vibrant colours of the streets, stitched across our chest," Liu says in the video. "An icon skyline reflecting on the shore. Home is at the core."
The jerseys feature a cross section of the downtown skyline including the CN Tower and the dome of the Rogers Centre in "pitch blue," a colour based on the hue of Lake Ontario at night.
Toronto is spelled out in red, black and blue lettering — inspired by the Toronto sign located at Nathan Phillips Square. The words "diversity our strength," taken from Toronto's Coat of Arms, are also stiched along the neckline.
A modernized version of the Blue Jays logo is included on the shoulder patch.
The hat features the letter blue and red T — drawing from the pillars of city hall on the Toronto flag — along with a red Maple Leaf.
The Blue Jays will debut their new uniforms Friday evening when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates in the opener of a three-game series.
The uniforms will also be worn during select night home games through the remainder of the season.
