Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins says the team plans to exercise the $3 million option on reliever Anthony Bass's contract for 2023.
The Blue Jays acquired Bass in a deal with the Miami Marlins in August.
In his second stint with Toronto after previously being with the team in 2020, Bass went 2-0 with a 1.75 ERA with 28 strikeouts and 10 walks in 25.2 innings with the Blue Jays last year.
Speaking at the GM meetings in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Atkins also said the team has been in contact with right-hander Ross Stripling and expressed interest in re-signing the free agent.
Meanwhile, Atkins says the Jays have received trade interest in their catchers — Danny Jansen, Alejandro Kirk and Gabriel Moreno. He says it's possible the Blue Jays make a move but won't force anything.
