Yariel Rodriguez will be on the mound when the Toronto Blue Jays open their weekend series in Cleveland against the Guardians.
The Blue Jays reinstated Rodriguez from the 15-day injured list. The 27-year-old was placed on the injured list with thoracic spine inflammation.
To make room on the roster, reliever Ryan Burr was optioned to triple-A Buffalo.
In his last appearance in triple-A with the Buffalo Bisons, Rodriguez allowed two runs on three hits while recording seven strikeouts in three innings.
Rodriguez had posted a 4.11 ERA over 15.1 innings with 16 strikeouts in four starts with the MLB club before hitting the injured list.
Toronto was in need of another starter in the rotation with Alek Manoah out for the season due to UCL surgery.
