Blue Jays' Zach Pop dealing with elbow discomfort

Toronto Blue Jays reliever Zach Pop has been shut down from throwing for seven to 10 days after he experienced “elbow discomfort” following his last outing, manager John Schneider told reporters on Thursday.

Schneider said an MRI of Pop's elbow showed no structural damage.

Pop has appeared in seven spring training games, throwing eight strikeouts and recording a 5.40 ERA through 6.2 innings.

The 28-year-old from Brampton, Ont., pitched in 58 games last season, recording a 5.59 ERA with 33 strikeouts through 48.1 innings.
