The Toronto Blue Jays were without the services of shortstop Bo Bichette for the second game in a row against the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday, but the shortstop is getting closer to his return from right calf soreness.
"Hopefully, it's not too much longer (for Bichette)," manager John Schneider said after the team's 7-6 win.
Asked if Bichette was available off the bench Sunday, Schneider said "maybe."
Through 66 games played this season, the 26-year-old is batting .237 with an OPS of .629 including 61 hits, 28 RBIs and 22 runs. Isiah Kiner-Falefa started in Bichette's place at shortstop.
The Blue Jays begin a three-game series with the visiting Boston Red Sox on Monday.
