After missing Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays due to neck spasms, Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette is once again not in the starting nine on Monday in Houston.
Bichette, who hit third and played shortstop in each of Toronto's first three games, is once again replaced by Ernie Clement defensively, who will hit sixth in the series opener against the Astros.
The 26-year-old Bichette had gone 2-for-12 this season with a double and two RBIs for the Blue Jays. In 2023, Bichette made his second career All-Star Game and slashed .306/.339/.475 over 135 games, missing time in August due to a right knee injury.
Manager John Schneider said Bichette was day-to-day coming into the Astros series and that, "you don't want to push it and make it any worse."
In Bichette's place on Sunday, Clement went 1-for-5 with a single and two runs scored.
You can watch Bowden Francis make his first career MLB start Monday night. The Blue Jays kick off a three-game series against the Astros on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+, starting at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT.
