Mississauga, Ont.'s Josh Naylor is headed to Arlington.
The 27-year-old first baseman was named to the American League All-Star team as a reserve on Sunday night, making him the 24th Canadian-born player to earn a spot at the Midsummer Classic.
Naylor is slashing .243/.319/.498 with a career-high 21 home runs through 83 games for the AL Central-leading Cleveland Guardians, emerging as a force in the middle of their lineup.
Not only has Naylor smashed 21 long balls this season, but he has also driven in 65 runs, hit 16 doubles and worked 31 walks.
With his strong campaign, Naylor has begun to work his way up the all-time Canadian ranks in just his sixth MLB season, moving to 14th in home runs, 23rd in doubles and 21st in RBIs.
Naylor will join four of his Guardians teammates at the game. Cleveland is tied for the American League lead in wins with 56. Jose Ramirez, Steven Kwan, Emmanuel Clase and David Fry were all named All-Stars.
He will also join Vladimir Guerrero Jr. as the two Canadian-born players to represent the American League in Texas.
The All-Star Game is scheduled for July 16.
