The Chicago Cubs claimed Toronto Blue Jays left-handed pitcher Anthony Kay off waivers on Friday.
Kay had been designated for assignment on Dec. 16 to make way for Chris Bassitt, who signed as a free agent, in the club's 40-man roster.
The 27-year-old Kay spent the past four seasons with the Blue Jays. Last season, Kay only pitched two innings in the majors, totalling three strikeouts and a 4.50 ERA.
