The Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired veteran Jace Peterson from the Oakland Athletics, shoring up their infield depth ahead of the trade deadline.
In exchange, the Diamondbacks are trading right-handed pitching prospect Chad Patrick to A's.
Peterson, a 10-year MLB veteran, is batting .221/.313/.324 with seven doubles, two triples, six home runs, and 28 RBI this season.
Patrick, 24, has a 4.71 in 19 starts at double-A this season.
Earlier Monday, the Diamondbacks acquired Mariners closer Paul Sewald in a trade.
