With the Boston-New York sports rivalry being as fierce as it gets, it left many wondering if that intensity convinced the New England Patriots to do a bit of trolling on Thursday.
As the Los Angeles Dodgers arrived home following their World Series win against the New York Yankees, Dodgers players exited from a Patriots plane.
This got tongues wagging on social media, with fans questioning if the Patriots were trying to poke a bit of fun at New York.
Apparently, that was not the case.
The Patriots told Mass.com "the flight was a standard charter booked through a company the Patriots use."
NBC Boston reported the Patriots have two planes that "are available for chartering through a partnership the team has with private flight provider Omni Air International."
Zack Fisch, the play-by-play voice of the AHL's Hershey Bears, confirmed his team used a Patriots plane in this year's Calder Cup.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft's planes have been nicknamed AirKraft.
Even if the flight was simply business as usual, if you believe the Patriots' explanation, it led to some fun times on X.
The Patriots, of course, are unlikely to need their plane for a trip home from a championship this season as they sit 2-6.
However, they are coming off a win over Aaron Rodgers and the struggling New York Jets, adding to the misery of Big Apple sports fans.
