  • Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez enters Home Run Derby to complete field

The eight participants for the 2024 Home Run Derby are officially set.

Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Teoscar Hernandez was announced by MLB as the final participant on Wednesday.

Hernandez, who has blasted 19 home runs this season in Los Angeles, announced his participation in the event while mic'd up and in the outfield during Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

"That was going to be huge for me," Hernadez said about participating in a derby. "Just to get the opportunity to be in there, enjoy that moment and enjoy the stage."

The outfielder also made it clear, he's in it to win it.

"Like I always say, 'just have fun, and why not try to win everything,'" Hernandez said during the broadcast.

Hernandez, 31, spent six seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays before he was traded to the Seattle Mariners during the 2023 off-season. Over 901 career games with the Dodgers, Mariners, Blue Jays and Houston Astros he has 178 home runs.

He joins a star-studded group that will compete in the Home Run Derby on July 15 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Adolis Garcia, Gunnar Henderson, Bobby Witt Jr., Alec Bohm, Jose Ramirez, Marcell Ozuna and Pete Alonso are the other seven sluggers in the eight-man field.
