It didn't take long for Aaron-Judge-eye-glance-gate to return to the spotlight during Tuesday night's game between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees.
During the top of the third inning, after Judge struck out, Yankees third-base coach Luis Rojas and Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker exchanged words.
The Jays were upset about Rojas standing outside the coach's box, which was a talking point before the game after Judge's incident on Monday.
“Pete was, probably more playfully than anything, saying ‘I’m watching you,’" Blue Jays manager John Schneider said after Tuesday's loss. "Rojas kind of took exception to it. It’s two competitive teams."
Television cameras on Monday caught Judge's eyes shifting to the side, either looking at the first-base coach or the dugout, during an at-bat. He went on to hit a home run.
Before Tuesday's game, the Blue Jays said they talked to MLB about wanting to make sure base coaches were staying in their respective boxes.
After Rojas and Walker exchanged words, Yankees manager Aaron Boone came out to talk to the umpires. After the Yankees were retired in the inning, Blue Jays manager John Schneider did the same thing.
Then, in the fourth inning, Boone had words with the umpires about the placement of Blue Jays third-base coach Luis Rivera.
Afterward, Boone told reporters he hoped the teams could move on.
“Just whatever. Tired,” Boone said, per the New York Post. “It’s just silliness. It’s ridiculous. And I think everyone — I hope on both sides — realizes it.”
