The Cleveland Guardians have activated outfielder Josh Naylor from the injured list, the team announced Friday.
The Mississauga, Ont., native suffered a close fractured and dislocated right ankle after colliding with teammate Ernie Clement in the outfield during a game against the Minnesota Twins in June of 2021.
Naylor made 25 plate appearances in his minor-league rehab assignment with the triple-A Columbus Clippers, hitting .200 with two doubles and five RBI.
The team has also optioned left-handed pitcher Konnor Pilkington to the Clippers.
Naylor recorded a .253 batting average and a .301 on-base percentage with seven home runs prior to his injury last season.
Naylor was scheduled to bat seventh and play first base in Cleveland's home opener on Friday against the San Francisco Giants.
