Canada's Erik Sabrowski has received a call to The Show.
The Cleveland Guardians selected the contract of the Edmonton-born, left-handed reliever Wednesday after former Toronto Blue Jays reliever Anthony Gose was designated for assignment.
Sabrowski, 26, is 8-3 with a 3.51 ERA in 36 appearances in double-A Akron and triple-A Columbus this season.
A 14th-round pick of the San Diego Padres in 2018, Sabrowski was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland organization in 2021.
Sabrowski missed the entire 2019 season after Tommy John surgery, per the St. Albert Gazette, and then had no place to play in 2020 because of COVID-19. He had a second Tommy John surgery in 2021 and didn't make his organizational debut with Cleveland until June 2023.
Sabrowski is the fourth Canadian on the Guardians' active roster, joining brothers Josh and Bo Naylor of Mississauga, Ont. and reliever Cade Smith of Abbotsford, B.C.
The Guardians enter play Thursday tied for first in the AL Central with the Kansas City Royals.
