The New York Yankees announced their roster for the ALDS against the Kansas City Royals on Saturday and some big names were omitted from the team.
Most notably, RHP Marcus Stroman was left off the 26-man squad as the Yankees turn to a tightened rotation for the five-game set against the Kansas City Royals.
Stroman, 33, was a solid pitcher for the Yankees this season, earning a 10-9 record in 29 starts with a 4.31 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 154.2 innings.
He joined the Yankees as a free agent in the off-season after spending the last two seasons with the Chicago Cubs and earning his second All-Star appearance last year.
New York will instead turn to Gerrit Cole, Luis Gil, Carlos Rodon and Clarke Schmidt as their possible starting pitchers for the series.
Also left off the Yankees' roster were first baseman Anthony Rizzo, infielder DJ LeMahieu and righty reliever Mark Leiter Jr.
Game 1 of the ALDS starts at 6:38 p.m. ET / 3:38 p.m. PT. You can catch all the action on Sportsnet or stream on Sportsnet+.
