The Toronto Blue Jays' pitching depth just got a little thinner.
Minor-league reliever Hagen Danner was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners, the team announced on Wednesday.
Danner, 26, made one career appearance with the Blue Jays in 2023, recording one out in relief before exiting with an oblique strain.
He did not get back to the big-league club last season. In 32 appearances in triple-A, Danner went 3-0 with a 3.15 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 34.1 innings.
The converted catcher from Newport Beach, Calif., was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays in late December to make room on the 40-man roster for fellow reliever Josh Walker.
