MLB has announced its post-season schedule on Sunday, with a wild-card matchup between the division rival New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox getting top billing.
The Yankees and Red Sox will play in the 8 p.m. ET primetime slot for Games 1 and 2 of their three-game series. The first two games of all four wild-card series will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the San Diego Padres will host the Chicago Cubs for the 10 p.m. time slot.
The earlier matchups are still to be decided, with the final day of play deciding which part of Texas the Chicago White Sox will travel to. The National League East-winning Atlanta Braves are also set to host either the Philadelphia Phillies or Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Houston Astros and Texas Rangers are tied at 80-81, and Houston holds the tiebreaker between the two teams, meaning Texas can only get in with a win and an Astros loss.
The Phillies are up one game on the Diamondbacks, but Arizona holds the tiebreaker there by intradivision record, meaning a Philadelphia loss and D-Backs win would complete an improbable comeback in the desert.
The Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians got first-round byes to the American League Division Series, and the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers will automatically advance to the NLDS. The entire MLB post-season will be available to watch on Sportsnet.
