Shohei Ohtani will be in the lineup for the Los Angeles Angels in Game 2 of their series against the Toronto Blue Jays despite being pulled the last two games with cramping.
Ohtani was forced to leave for the second consecutive day after experiencing cramps in both of his calves. He homered on the first pitch he faced from Kevin Gausman on Friday and was then replaced by pinch-hitter Michael Stefanic when his at-bat came up with the bases loaded in the ninth inning.
Stefanic struck out looking at a 3-2 pitch from right-hander Jordan Romano as Toronto ended the Angels’ four-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Ohtani homered twice in the second game of a doubleheader at Detroit before leaving with cramps. He threw an eight-strikeout, one-hitter in the opener for his first career MLB shutout.
The 29-year-old is hitting .301/.396/.681 with 39 home runs and 81 RBI in 102 games this season.
Watch Game 2 of the series between the Angels and Blue Jays on Saturday, with coverage starting at 2:30 p.m. ET / 11:30 a.m. PT on Sportsnet and SN NOW.
