The Baltimore Orioles placed star outfielder Anthony Santander and left-handed reliever Keegan Akin on the restricted list ahead of a four-game series against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Right-handed pitcher Rico Garcia and outfielder Kyle Stowers have been recalled from triple-A Norfolk in corresponding moves. If Stowers appears in a game, it will be his major league debut.

The moves suggest Santander and Akin could not cross the border due to an insufficient COVID-19 vaccine status. Unvaccinated people cannot enter Canada or the United States without a quarantine period.

Santander leads the Orioles with 11 home runs this season and is hitting .238/.337/.421 in 59 games this season. Akin has a 2.61 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 38 relief innings this season.

Alek Manoah gets the ball for the Blue Jays in the series opener Monday night. You can watch the game live on Sportsnet ONE and SN NOW beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
