  • Rays lose yet another player as Diaz exits game vs. Blue Jays

The Tampa Bay Rays can't seem to get any relief from injuries, losing first baseman Yandy Diaz after just two innings Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays due to right hamstring tightness.

Diaz singled in the first but looked uncomfortable after he ran down the first-base line. The 32-year-old stayed in the game and eventually scored. But after failing to reach in his second at-bat, he did not take the field in the top of the third inning.

Isaac Paredes slid over to replace him at first, with Osleivis Basabe entering the game at second base for Tampa.

Diaz went 4-for-4 with a solo home run and a double Saturday against the Blue Jays and is leading the Rays with a .327 average.

The playoff-bound and injury-depleted Rays put second baseman Brandon Lowe on the 10-day injured list with a fractured right patella on Saturday.

Tampa Bay outfielder Luke Raley went on the 10-day IL on Friday with a cervical strain. He joined centre fielder Jose Siri, who has been out since Sept, 12 with fractured right hand.

All-Star left fielder Randy Arozarena left Friday's game with right quadriceps tightness and is day to day. Reliever Jason Adam also departed Friday's game with an oblique injury.

Four Tampa Bay starting pitchers ā€” ace Shane McClanahan, Drew Rasmussen. Jeffrey Springs and Shane Baz ā€” have missed part or all of this season following elbow surgery.
