As the Toronto Blue Jays continue working through their pitching carousel to fill that fifth starting spot, they once again turn to Trevor Richards.
The reliever will start against the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday -- his second time opening a contest this season.
Richards enters the day sporting a 3.31 ERA and a 0.918 WHIP through 32.2 innings pitched.
In his previous start, the righty took the mound against the Baltimore Orioles on June 4 in what ended up a 10-1 lopsided loss for the Jays. Despite the outcome, Richards proved serviceable as he gave up zero runs and no hits through two innings of work while striking out four of the six batters he faced.
Toronto will hope for more of the same from the 31-year-old as they look to bounce back from back-to-back losses. Their latest was the first game of three against Cleveland, which they lost 3-1 on Friday.
First pitch is scheduled for 3:07 p.m. ET, with all the action available on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
