It appears reliever Rafael Montero will be sticking with the Houston Astros.
ESPN's Jeff Passan reported Saturday that the Astros and Montero have agreed to a three-year, $34.5 million contract.
Montero had a 2.37 ERA and 73 strikeouts over 68.1 innings during his first full season with the Astros this year.
The 32-year-old right-hander also had a 1.93 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 9.1 innings during the postseason to help the Astros win their second World Series title. He was one of four pitchers to combine for a no-hitter in Game 4 of the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Montero made his MLB debut with the New York Mets in 2014. He also played for the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners before joining the Astros via trade in July 2021.
