The Toronto Blue Jays are among three teams showing interest in free-agent starter. Eduardo Rodriguez, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
The Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers are also interested in signing Rodriguez, as Morosi reports. The 28-year-old was tendered a qualifying offer from the Boston Red Sox and reportedly received a multi-year contract offer to remain with the team.
In 31 starts this season, the Venezuelan had a 13-8 record with a 4.74 ERA, 185 strikeouts and 46 walks over 157 2/3 innings. Rodriguez has spent his entire six-year MLB career in Boston, where he helped the Red Sox win the 2018 World Series.
The Blue Jays remain in touch with AL Cy Young nominee Robbie Ray and expect to be in the mix with many of the top names in free agency. The starting rotation is a priority for the team this off-season especially if Toronto has to replace both Ray and fellow free agent Steven Matz.
