Teenage outfielder Jackson Chourio is expected to sign the largest contract in history for a player yet to reach the major leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers, according to multiple reports.
Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports the 19-year-old Venezuelan outfielder will ink an eight-year deal worth close to $80 million, which includes two team options.
The previous record for a player yet to reach the major leagues was set by Luis Robert Jr., who signed a six-year, $50-million deal with the Chicago White Sox in 2020.
Despite playing only six games above double-A, Chourio is projected to be in the majors this year, Heyman writes.
