All-star catcher Willson Contreras has agreed to a five-year deal with the St. Louis Cardinals, MLB Network's Jon Morosi reports.
ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that the deal is worth $87.5 million over the five years.
The Venezuelan made his third appearance in the MLB All-Star Game as a member of the Chicago Cubs last season.
Contreras slashed .243/.349/.466 with 22 homers and 55 RBI for the Cubs last season.
The Cardinals were in the market for a catcher after the retirement of Yadier Molina.
