The Toronto Blue Jays will still be seeing a lot of Danny Jansen in 2025.
The 29-year-old catcher is staying in the American League East after agreeing to a one-year $8.5-million deal with the Tampa Bay Rays, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reported Friday.
Jansen spent seven seasons with the Blue Jays at the Major League level and 12 total years in the organization. He ranks second among all Toronto catchers in home runs with 71 and fourth in wins above replacement with 9.5.
The six-foot-two backstop split last season between the Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox, posting a .205/.309/.349 slash line with nine home runs and 24 RBIs.
Divisional opponents play 13 games against each other per season. Jansen will visit the Rogers Centre for the first time as a Ray on May 13.
