After avoiding arbitration earlier this off-season, the Arizona Diamondbacks are inking one of their players to a long-term deal.
All-Star shortstop Geraldo Perdomo has agreed to a four-year, $45 million extension with the Diamondbacks, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported Monday.
The deal is set to kick in ahead of the 2026 season and will therefore keep him in the desert through the 2029 campaign. It includes a club option in 2030.
Perdomo signed a one-year, $2.55 million contract with the Diamondbacks to avoid arbitration back in January. He had two more years of arbitration-eligible remaining.
The 25-year-old had a solid year for the Diamondbacks in 2024 but missed time due to a torn meniscus which he suffered in April. He managed to return in June following surgery.
Despite the injuries, he managed to put up .273/.344/.374 batting splits with three home runs, 37 RBIs and nine stolen bases.
The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native was named an All-Star in 2023 after slashing .246/.353/.359 with six home runs, 47 RBIs and 16 stolen bases.
The Diamondbacks have been aggressive this off-season as they try to compete with the big-spending Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants in the NL West. Arizona's biggest move was signing ace pitcher Corbin Burnes to a $210 million, six-year deal in December.
