Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander David Price shared his plans to retire at the end of the 2022 season to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
Price told Nightengale: "Everything on my body hurts."
The first overall pick in the 2007 MLB Draft is currently in his 14th year in the major leagues and spent the month of September on the injured list. Price is expected to recover from inflammation in his left wrist in time to cap off the season in L.A.
Price split the 2015 season between the Detroit Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays after he was acquired in a blockbuster deal. He finished the season with a total record of 15-8, a career-best 2.45 ERA and 225 strikeouts.
In that season, Price earned his fifth and final All-Star appearance and finished second in Cy Young voting.
Price went on to the Boston Red Sox the following year and won the World Series, plus the AL Comeback Player of the Year, in the 2018 season.
