Former Toronto Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo will be joining the Chicago White Sox dugout as the team's next bench coach, a source confirmed to the Chicago Sun Times.
Montoyo was brought on to join new manager Pedro Grifol, who was officially hired by the White Sox on Thursday to replace Tony La Russa.
The 57-year-old was let go of his duties as Blue Jays manager on July 13 after leading the team to a 46-42 start to the 2022 season. John Schneider was appointed interim manager afterwards.
Montoyo served as the Blue Jays' manager for three and a half seasons, accumulating a regular-season record of 236-236. He was nominated for American League Manager of the Year in 2020 alongside the Tampa Bay Rays' Kevin Cash and the White Sox’s Rick Renteria.
