The Cleveland Guardians are signing free-agent catcher Mike Zunino, sources tell The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
The length and financial details of the deal have not been reported or disclosed.
Zunino has spent time with the Seattle Mariners (2013-18) and Tampa Bay Rays (2019-22) during his 10-year career.
The 31-year-old underwent mid-season surgery to address thoracic outlet syndrome in his left arm and appeared in just 36 games for the Rays in the 2022 campaign.
As the Guardians add a catcher to their roster, the Chicago Cubs, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres and Detroit Tigers are all still believed to be interested in the position.
Zunino has registered a .200 batting average and a .681 on-base plus slugging percentage with 146 home runs and 361 RBI over the course of his career.
