The Cleveland Guardians continued to sell off assets, trading designated hitter Josh Bell to the Miami Marlins for infielder Jean Segura and prospect Kahlil Watson, per ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Cleveland released the 33-year-old Segura after the trade was completed.
The Guardians, despite being in a close race with the Minnesota Twins for first in the AL Central, showed they were sellers on Monday when they traded right-hander Aaron Civale to the Tampa Bay Rays.
Bell has a player option for $16.5 million in 2024.
Bell is hitting .233/.318/.383 with 11 homers and 48 RBIs this season.
It marks the second year in a row Bell has been moved at the trade deadline. Last year, he went to the San Diego Padres along with Juan Soto in a multi-player deal with the Washington Nationals.
The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Bell in the second round of the MLB Draft in 2011. Bell made his MLB debut with the Pirates in 2016 and went to the All-Star Game in 2019 when he finished the season with a career-best 37 homers and 116 RBIs.
