Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper could return to the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers if he is cleared by doctors on Monday morning, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
Harper, 30, underwent Tommy John surgery on Nov. 23 and was originally projected to return to the Phillies closer to the all-star break. If he does return on Tuesday, just 160 days following his surgery, the 2022 NLCS MVP will smash the conventual timeline to recover from the elbow surgery.
A two-time NL MVP, Harper is coming off an injury-marred 2022 season that saw him battle a partially torn UCL in May and a fractured thumb in June.
Despite the injuries, Harper managed to slash .286/.364/.514 and hit 18 home runs in 99 games before taking his game to the next level in the postseason.
As the Phillies made their magical run to the World Series, Harper improved his slash line to .349/.414/.746 with six home runs in 17 games.
Harper spent the majority of 2022 as Philadelphia's designated hitter and will return in that role once he gets the green light to rejoin the lineup.
