The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to meet with reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander on Monday, MLB Network insider Jon Heyman reports.
Heyman adds that Verlander fits the Dodgers' desire to sign short-term, high-dollar-figure deals this winter. Fangraphs’ crowdsourced projections have the 39-year-old signing a two-year deal, while MLB Trade Rumors has him inking for three.
Other teams that have reportedly expressed interest in the longtime ace include the New York Yankees, the New York Mets and his former club the Houston Astros.
The Dodgers' impending decisions regarding their rotation figure to be worth watching closely this off-season. The club has already reportedly signed franchise legend Clayton Kershaw to a one-year extension per Ken Rosenthal, while breakout starter Tyler Anderson departed earlier in October for the Los Angeles Angels.
This past season, despite returning from Tommy John surgery the year prior, Verlander dominated on the rubber, going 18-4 on the season with a pristine 1.75 ERA and 185 strikeouts in 175 innings, en route to his third career Cy Young Award.
