The Detroit Tigers have signed Matt Boyd to a one-year, $10-million dollar contract including incentives, Jon Heyman reports.
Boyd’s signing, first reported by Jeff Passan, marks his second stint with the Detroit Tigers. He previously pitched with the club from 2015-2021.
The converted starter turned reliever signed last offseason with the San Francisco Giants after the Tigers non-tendered him, however, he never pitched for the club in 2022 due to forearm flexor tendon surgery.
After being dealt to the Seattle Mariners at the MLB Trade Deadline, he made 10 appearances, tossing 13.1 innings with a 1.35 ERA and two decisions, both wins.
Lifetime, in 145 starts and 797.2 innings, Boyd is 39-62 with a 4.90 ERA.
