The New York Mets have signed free agent pitcher Kodai Senga to a five-year, $75 million deal per SportsNet New York's Andy Martino.
Senga’s deal will reportedly include a no-trade clause, as well as an opt-out after its third season.
The Japanese ace comes over from his native Nippon Professional Baseball with a strong track record, compiling an 11-6 record last year with a sparkling 1.89 ERA in 23 starts. Lifetime, the 29-year-old boasts an 87-44 record across 11 seasons with a 2.59 ERA.
Kodai Senga is set to be another piece in a newly rebuilt New York Mets rotation that now features freshly minted ace Justin Verlander as well as lefty Jose Quintana.
The Mets haven’t been shy about spending this offseason, and are expected to dip well into the luxury tax threshold following their bevy of moves this winter.
