Shohei Ohtani will not take the mound against the Toronto Blue Jays over the weekend, instead starting Game 1 for the Los Angeles Angels of a doubleheader on Thursday, according to Sam Blum of The Athletic.
Ohtani had been scheduled to pitch against the Blue Jays on Friday at Rogers Centre.
The odds-on MVP favourite has emerged as a dominant two-way player, chasing 60 home runs while also sporting a 3.71 ERA over 111.2 innings pitched.
Fans in Toronto will likely still see the 29-year-old take to the plate — a relief, since these may be the final days to see Ohtani in an Angels uniform.
