The San Diego Padres are bolstering their bullpen by acquiring reliever Jason Adam from the Tampa Bay Rays, ESPN's Jeff Passan reports.
In exchange, the Padres are sending right-handed Dylan Lesko, outfielder Homer Bush Jr. and catcher J.D. Gonzalez.
Adam was considered the bullpen anchor of Tampa's relief staff. He pitched to a 2.49 ERA and 0.89 WHIP in 47 innings. He will help the Padres staff in late-inning situations and he remains under club control until 2026.
This is the third major piece the Rays have traded from their roster after dealing Randy Arozarena to Seattle and Zach Eflin to Baltimore on Friday.
The Rays have also strengthened their prospect depth with the Padres sending their second-ranked pitching prospect in Lesko, their fourth-best position prospect in Bush Jr. and their sixth-ranked position prospect in Gonzalez.
