The Philadelphia Phillies have picked up the $16 million option for starting pitcher Aaron Nola, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
Nola, who has been Philadelphia's Opening Game starter every season since 2018, finished the regular season with an 11-13 record, 3.25 ERA and 235 strikeouts.
He also went 2-2 through the postseason with a 4.91 ERA and 27 strikeouts in five starts as the Phillies came within two games of winning the World Series.
The 29-year-old right-hander holds a career 78-62 record and 3.60 ERA with 1,380 strikeouts over eight seasons in the majors, all with Philadelphia.
