Right-handed relief pitcher Craig Kimbrel and the Philadelphia Phillies are in agreement on a one-year, $10 million contract according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
Kimbrel spent last season as the closer for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He pitched to a 3.75 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 60.0 innings of work, earning 22 saves in the process.
The 34-year-old had four-straight all-star appearances while playing for division rivals Atlanta Braves between 2011-2014. In that time, he owned a healthy 1.51 ERA in 268 IP. He has 394 saves over the course of his 13-year career which is good for seventh all-time.
The Phillies are continuing their offseason spending spree in an effort to match the New York Mets. So far, the World Series runner-ups have added SS Trea Turner, RHP Taijuan Walker, and alongside Kimbrel, have added LHP Matt Strahm to help bolster their bullpen.
Philadelphia struggled to find a stable closer over the course of last season with 11 pitchers earning saves throughout the regular season. Corey Knebel, who they signed last offseason, got the most looks at the end with 29 games finished, however, he only earned 12 saves.
